The last day of classes this school year

Today at 12:30, students are dismissed for this school year. Thank you for sharing this year with us at Lake Benton Public School. I look forward to our Open House August 17^th. We will all meet in the gym at 5:30. The first day of classes for the 2017-18 school year is Monday August 21^st. More information will be out in July.

Spots in Preschool

No, this is not a reminder to have your child vaccinated for measles nor does it have anything to do with predicaments that you may find yourself in, i.e., “I’m in a real tight spot”; this brief is all about 101 Dalmatians or more accurately, 33 super-cute preschool students. Our 4-year-old students wrapped up this school year by dressing as Dalmatians. Our 3-year-old group completed the school year yesterday. We thank you for choosing Lake Benton Elementary as your child’s preschool home for the 2016-17 school year and look forward to August 21st and the start of a new adventure in education.

Kindergarten and First Grade visit the Watertown Zoo

The bad news is that despite their best efforts, three 1^st grade girls were unable to smuggle a set of penguins onto the bus. The good news is that bus driver Gary, had little to clean-up after. The other good word was that the group had a spectacular day enjoying the company of their classmates and zoo critters.

An update on 6^th grade art

Artist Michelle Weber was kind enough to come back to Lake Benton School yesterday so that we could take photos of the young artists with their teacher. Each 6^th grade student signed and dated their ceiling tile. My hope is that they come back to Lake Benton with their grandchildren and share fond memories of life in the year 2017.

The sunshine and warm spring temperatures make even shadows from our playground equipment smile. A 4^th grade student yesterday noticed the happy face made from the shadow of a piece of playground equipment and I noticed her happy face! Although I thank Mother Nature for creating interesting shapes and shadows, I give even greater thanks for the gift that she gives us in creating children. Well done!

Our Sixth Grade Class is enjoying this beautiful day at the Zoo. I know that they have worked very hard this school year and I know that they will do their best next year at their new school. Lake Benton Public School is a better place because of their presence. We will miss them next August, but we know that they will continue to contribute as 7^th graders in their new home!
