Fire Prevention Week

“Every Second Counts, Have a 2nd Way Out”

We are in the middle of Fire Prevention Week, and were fortunate to have the Lake Benton Firefighters present this morning for student training. Fire Chief Pat McCarthy led today’s training with reminders about both potential household dangers and procedures taken should a fire break out. Replacing batteries in our smoke detectors and practicing home evacuations were just two of the many simple and practical steps that we can take to keep our families safe. Two firefighters suited up and moved through the student body as a way of reducing the fear that a child might have when met with a firefighter in an emergency.

Students by class were able to get a close-up view of the fire departments equipment and toured the trucks that they may one day depend on in case of an emergency.

Thank you to our 24 Lake Benton Firefighters for donating your time and talent, not just this week but for all 51 weeks of the year!
